Valarie says her amazing career started when she began teaching aerobics in her first year of college at Central Michigan University where she majored in Exercise Science and Corporate Health and Promotion. This was the beginning of her 26 years of gratifying work in personal training and teaching group exercise. While attending school Valarie trained and taught at Gold Gym where she got
her first certifications.
After college Valarie decided to move to Sacramento to start her career into presenting and certifying instructors for a national company, while still owning her own gym in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she judged competitions for the NPC in both Colorado and Oregon.
Valarie has competed in several bodybuilding competitions and major fitness competitions since 1998.
In January 1999, Val woke up one day with tunnel vision slurred speech, extreme vertigo and bell’s
palsy. For the next three weeks, the doctors tested her for everything (MS, Lupus and Lyme disease)
during this time, the doctors were not hopeful, they gave me a year and said if I did live I would never walk again. Being completely devastated, shocked and depressed, Val left everything behind and headed north to Portland Oregon closer to family. After passing that year mark, Val decided she was not a quitter and was not going to sit around waiting to die! She went back into the gym and trained hard. Val was determined to compete once again in bodybuilding. In 2002, Val did and she took 1st place in here division and overall at the Oregon State Bodybuilding Competition.
Val decided to live again, and be closer to her son who resided in Roseville so she packed her bags once again and headed south to Roseville to start her new life. During the next 10 years, Valarie has worked for several health clubs in the area training and teaching group exercise. Valarie is certified in Spin, Pilates, Yoga and most group exercise formats. Val feels she has been given a second chance to live. Valarie is even more passionate about health and fitness than ever before and is living her dream once again, helping others achieve their health and fitness goals.
Valarie is currently training at Strong Fitness in Roseville as well as running her own corporate wellness Bootcamp’s throughout the area. During her spare time, Valarie prepares and delivers healthy gourmet meals for several clients and will be providing healthy recipes on West Coast Nutrition Roseville website. Valarie is a Master Trainer for Leibert Fitness and presents at national conferences. In 2012, I will be hosting workshops at Strong Fitness featuring the equalizers and buddy system and am excited to be competing in the Governor’s Cup.
